Even though Bali does not qualify for becoming a venue for 2020 Indonesia Sport Week (PON), but the province does not give up to host on that biggest Sport event in Indonesia. On the next 2024 PON, Bali should be a host. In order to welcome that 2024 PON, once again Bali enrolls to be able follow the selection process or we call it as bidding process. Any design has been prepared so Bali could successfully become a host of that 21st PON. It was conveyed by Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika when accepting Bali Indonesia Sport Association (KONI) in his office, on Thursday (30/11).

“If the registration has been done, we should inform to all parties so the preparation could be started, we should prepare the power. The plan should be started from now on, we will involve state-owned enterprise, local-owned enterprise and leading sector like Indonesian Hotel Association as well,” said Pastika.

Regencies and City in Bali are also hoped to join prepare for that event, through fixing-up their respective areas, so the event could be held evenly throughout regencies.  “Inventory all sport’s asset in any regencies, all should be optimized, so the event not only centered in Denpasar. The distance among regencies is quite affordable, the accommodation is also available,” said Pastika while explained KONI should also discuss with West Nusa and East Nusa, to participate becoming co-host of 21st PON.

As explained before by head of Bali KONI, that 21st PON bidding process will immediately started and 4 provinces have been confirmed their participation on bidding process, these are North Sumatra, Central Java, Aceh and South Kalimantan. If Bali joins on bidding process, West Nusa will definitely give its support. On that occasion, he also reported the next Province Sport Discussion that will be held in Singaraja on December 16 2017 and will be attended by 200 participants. “We expect Mr. Governor could support the sport in Bali,” Suwandi said.
