Riviewing the Readiness of Mount Agung Disaster Management, Governor Pastika Was Worried About Society Life and Bali Tourism

Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika really concerns on the situation of Mount Agung which is the status has been raised to level 4 or “danger”. Recently the volcano has experienced magmatic eruption that caused volcanic ash fall. He was worried about society life and Bali tourism condition as well. It was conveyed while he reviewing the Mount Agung Observation center in Rendang sub-district, Karangasem, on Monday (27/11).

“Don’t think about money and logistic for now, we just need to think about the impact to society life and Bali tourism. Talking about money and logistic, local government has enough to meet the needs, and central government is ready to help us,” stated pastika.
Viewed from Central Observation, Mount Agung was erupted continously and emited volcanic ash that is very dangerous for aviation. “The situation could last for a month and has the long impact, and we don’t know when the condition will normal be,” added Pastika. So that, he urged people to stay calm and alert, and also always follow the instruction, in order to minimize the eruption’s impact. He also urged journalist to do not exaggerating the news related to Mount Agung, caused it gave a bad impression for tourists who stay in Bali.
After visiting Central Observation, Governor Pastika headed toward Disaster Main Post in Tanah Ampo, Manggis, Karangasem. He instructed to activate that post to give more coordinated services. He also added, budget for disaster management can be already issued, so that Pastika demanded to use it wisely. Beside that, he instructed all disaster management stakeholders to detail the needed logistic, then he will report to central government. Governor Pastika also demanded Army and Police immediately sterilize the nearby village from volcano, in order to minimize victims. Because there are people who did not want evacuate due to they assume it was not a huge erruption.
Meanwhile karangasem regent I Gusti Ayu Mas Sumantri said that there are 57.000 refugees who spread in several regency. She also added, the people today more understand, so no more panic during the evacuation process.  (PM)
