Meeting With Consul General of Foreign Countries, Pastika Guarantee Bali is Safe to Visit

Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika explained directly to all Consul General of foreign countries for Bali, related to the current Mount Agung situation as well as about the government’s policy in order to handle that situation. That meeting took place in Praja Sabha meeting room, Bali Governor Office, on Wednesday (4/10).
Pastika also expected tourits visiting Bali not to worry about the latest activity of Mount Agung. The reason why we do not have to hesitate visiting Bali because if Mount Agung errupted, only 28 villages in Karangasem regency are directly affected and should be evacuated. According to him, the areas that should be cleared just about 12 km from Mount Agung. “Even Candidasa is included the safe area, so tourist should not be affraid,” said him. So travelers who are outside these 28 villages, especially who travel to Nusa Dua and Kuta are certainly safe.
He also added recently the shallow volcanic activity of Mount Agung is decreasing and he expected it would continoue to decrease so it will not become erupted. According to him, local government always accepting the updated datas from volcanologists who monitoring Mount Agung. Eventhough that mountain erupted, local governement has the Agency for Disaster Management that has been ready to handle various possibilities.
If Ngurah Rai international airport shoud be closed, the former of Bali Police Chief said that government has prepared contigency plan. For those who want to go back to their country, government will facilitate and accomodate to the near airport, like airport in Surabaya or Lombok.
Governor Pastika also stated all information related to Mount Agung activity should be reffering to the official source. According to him, many hoax information about Mount Agung are reported in online media. He also demanded foreign citizen in Bali to do not worry on Bali condition. “For country that has issued travel warning, I hope it can be revoked,” said him. (PM)
