Tri Hita Karana Philosophy which is implemented by Balinese people has been proven making Bali island as one uniqueness island in the world. The philosophy has maintained the good relationship between human and Gods, human with human as well as human with the environment. That concept is caused Bali until this day being one of favorite tourism destination in the world. That is addressed by Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika while becoming the keynote speaker in 1st International Joint Conference on Science and Technology (IJCST) that has been conducted in Bali Ayodya resort’s Ballroom, Nusa Dua, Wednesday (12/10).
Furthermore Pastika conveyed that even though Bali has not natural resources like meaning etc., but through its uniqueness, Bali is able to attract millions of tourists to visit. “Bali is a small island, but be unique at the same time, so we should be grateful Bali is endowed by the beautiful nature, friendly, creative and innovative people, as well as the uniqueness of its culture, and these all aspects harmonize in Tri Hita Karana,” explained Pastika who also said that through Tri Hita Karana Bali can maintain the harmony. Pastika also explained Tri Hita Karana philosophy is three elements that is able to create the happiness, harmony and balance as well for our life. These three elements concerns on the relation between human and Gods (Parahyangan), relation between people (Pawongan) and relation between human and environment (Palemahan). “That philosophy can bring Balinese people into the eternal happiness, so do not surprised when you find many trees worn by sarong in the street, that is our way to show the harmonious relation with our environment, if we lose that philosophy, Bali is not unique anymore,” explained him. That harmony then creates and builds a Cultural Tourism Concept with Green and Sustainable Tourism principal that is expected be able to develop and be adopted in the future. “Small and Unique, but Bali should be great through the tourism development based on the origin of its culture,” added Pastika. Furthermore, Pastika also explained about the great Nyepi day which is implemented by Balinese people to introspect their selves as well a to stop all activities for a whole day. That is not only to introspect, but also a way to clear and preserve our nature. “It means, one of the ways to preserve our nature, culture and tradition in Bali is Nyepi, because all activity is stopped, even our airport is closed,” stated him. On that occasion, Governor Pastika also expected that the positives aura of Bali is able to deliver the spirit and motivation in creating the innovation which is also as a positive output for any solution of society’s problem.
Meanwhile, West Java Veteran National Development University rector, Teguh Sudarto, explained that the event supported by 5 Universities, consist of West Java Veteran National Development University, , State Polytechnic of Bali, National Cheng Kung University, Surabaya State University and University Trunojoyo of Madura. According to him, the conference that is held from 12 to 13 October 2016 is the continuation of previous conference Bali International Seminar on Science and Technology (BISSTECH) that has been held 3 times. He also added that the conference presents four speakers consist of Dr. Sheng Zhang from University of Twente, Netherlands, Ray Hoemsen from Red River College, Winipeg Canada, Prof. Yasushi Kiyoki from Keio University Japan dan Prof Bill Atweh from Curtin University Australia. For the future he expected that the conference which was attended by 400 participants, gives the benefit for the advance of development in Indonesia, especially in sciences and technology field.
