PRESIDNET JOKO WIDODO TO OPENS THE 3RD ASIAN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT CONGRESS IN NUSA DUA BALI

President of Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo appreciated the election of Indonesia especially Bali as a host of The Association of Asian of Asian Constitutional Court and Equivalent Instutution (AACC) in order to discuss the constitution and civil right. Joko Widodo admitted that Indonesia as a great country with its pluralism always loves peace and tries to ensure the security and constitutional right as well. “Indonesia nowadays tries hard to fulfill the civil constitutional right. Moreover the reformation of constitution in 1999 has positioned Indonesia Constitutional Court (MKRI) in a strategic position,” said him. According to him, MK has a duty to guard and protect the constitution as well as give the protection for civil constitutional right. It was revealed by the president while opening the event in BNDCC, Nusa Dua, on Thursday (11/8).

He also added MK RI also has a duty to test the constitution, protect the rule of law as well as to realize check and balances among stake holder. Through this conference, the President expected will be created a breakthrough that could improve democracy and the establishment of constitution which always stands to people. “The end of state duty is to welfare its people, give the sense of security and ensure the democracy for all people. Through this event, I expect the formulation of our purposed will be resulted,” added the 1st man of Bali who also accompanied by Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, The Secretary of Cabinet Kabinet Pramono Anung, as well as the Chief of Indonesian Police Tito Karnavian. Besides that, through this conference the delegation could share the experiences and knowledge about the fulfillment the constitutional right for society.

Meanwhile head of Constitutional Court of Republic of Indonesia Arief Hidayat reported that this is the 3rd event and the 1st time of Indonesia becoming a host. The election of Indonesia because MK RI has became a president of AACC for periode 2014-2016 which had been established by the 2nd AACC in Istanbul, Turkey on May 2014. On that occasion, Arief Hidayat explained that even though each country has its own law and constitution system, but we have a same principal to protect civil constitutional right. Constitutional Court also has a duty to guard democracy through a support procedurally and substantively. The procedure support is realized in order to solve the general election conflict. Therefore substantive support has a function to control product of law which legalized by legislative institution.

Arief Hidayat added that the conference which held from 9-13 of August and also attended by 14 countries had been declared for the 1st time in 2010 in Jakarta initiated by MK RI, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia and Uzbekistan. The charter of AACC establishment thencalled as Jakarta Declaration. The purpose of AACC is to promote democracy, law enforcement and human right. He expected through this conference could become a foundation for a commitment of members of AACC in improving and protecting civil constitutional right, as well as to strengthen the relationship among countries.

On the opening ceremony, Governor of Bali Made Mangku Pastika also had a change to welcome all delegations. He expressed his pride while Bali once again chosen as a host for international event. Bali has succeed hosting international events for many times and Bali’s rule is increasing be important in international level. Through that event, Governor Pastika also promoted Bali to all delegations. According to him, Bali which also known as Island of Gods, Island of Paradise and Island of Love has many potential to be explored. So in that occasion, he invited all participants to visit popular tourism destinations and of course buy some souvenirs for families and friends in each country.
